Helvellyn Tri

Three of us went up to Cumbria for the Helvellyn Tri on Sunday - Christine Howard, Rupert Holden and me.

It was a breezy day even down in Glenridding which made the swim in Ullswater quite choppy. That also meant there was a very stiff headwind on the long stretch between Keswick and Ambleside on the 38 mile bike leg and 50 mph winds on the mountain tops. For that reason the organisers decided Swirral Edge would be too dangerous so the run was reduced by a couple of miles.

As always it was a good turnout with a very friendly atmosphere.

Our results:

Karl - 3:52:54 (35th)
Christine - 4:18:14 (5th lady)
Rupert - 4:22:54 which included quite some time making hard work of repairing a puncture!

Lots of MACs have done this race over the years and it's one of the nicest in the country.
