Report and Results for the Ian Milne White Peak Marathon, 'Swift Half' Marathon and 'Down in a Shot' 10k

Isn't there a tradition in sport in which excellence is recognsed through allowing three times successive winners the right to retain a trophy in perpetuity?
 
That’s Huntingdon's AC Ty Farrers claim now as he stormed to win the full marathon race today following his earlier pre-Covid victories in 2018 & 2019. And it's also good to see he's kept up the training over lockdown as he finishes over 5 minutes quicker than his previous times. In the ladies marathon race, the impressive Ieva Klavina made it a Huntingdon AC double triumph, and a special mention to Kevin Uzzell of Stone Marathon Masters in choosing our race to complete his 75th marathon in his 75th year.

In the 'Swift Haf ' Marathon, it was Kimberley and District Strider Michael Perry who led the way to take the win, and what a performance from Kate Wright of Stratford upon Avon AC in finishing 7th overall to take the win in the ladies race.
 
What a motivating story our inaugural 'Down in a Shot' 10K produced with the overall race winner, and the winner of the ladies race, both being V60+ runners!!!! Massive admiration and huge respect go to Peter Thompson from Cambridge & Coleridge AC and Jayne Dale of Beverley AC

White Peak Festival of Running 21/05/2022

After a very long and frustrating three year wait, the long distance classic Ian Milne White Peak Marathon returns this Saturday on the Tisssington and High Peak trails. It forms part of our White Peak Festival of Running which also includes the hugely popular 'Swift Half' marathon and the new ultra fast 'Down in a Shot' 10k. We wish to thank the entrants for their patience and support through all the Covid enforced postponements during the last 24 months.

 All three races commence at 11.00am, and the registration desks open at 08.00am for collection of race numbers and prepaid T shirts . Peak Rail 7 Final Results

Many thanks to all the  volunteers, runners and supporters who combined to produce another successful and enjoyable Peak Rail 7 race on Easter Monday morning. Congratulations to the winning Derrby AC pairing of Alex Pilcher and Abbey Van Dijk who set new course records for the fastest overall and ladies times. Full results on the MAC Webscorer page

                        • Start at High Peak Junction (meet at car park) – no marshals, no signs just pick a route to the trig point and back.  Juniors can do this but they’ll need to be capable of navigating – but there will be a simple race up to the top of Sheep Pasture Incline and back.

Annual General Meeting - Thursday 4 November 2021 at 7.30pm at The Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale.

Annual General Meeting

The Matlock Athletic Club AGM will be held on Thursday 4 November 2021 at 7.30pm at The Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale.

The meeting should last about 1.5 hours. Please do make an effort to attend – it is your Club.

Election of Officers – If you wish to stand for ANY of the Committee posts, please let us know by 24th October. A number of existing officers (including the secretary and treasurer) have indicated that they are willing to continue in their roles if re-elected.

In particular, we are keen to encourage more ladies to join the committee in an executive role, to ensure that the membership is reflected by those managing the club.
