Saturday morning saw The British Fell and Hill Relays take place at Braithwaite Nr Keswick.
18 Macs made up three teams. After fighting all the conditions the weather threw at us on Friday and into Saturday all 18 made it through the Floods with many starting their journeys at 6am in the morning.
The A Team consisted of
Leg 1 Toby Gill
Leg 2 Billy Cartwright and Dan Haworth
Leg 3 Nav, Harry Holmes and Captain Greg Hopkinson
Leg 4 Alasdair Campbell
Matlock Old Boys
Leg 1 John Thorpe
Leg 2 Luke Beresford and Nick Gant
Leg 3 Geoff Cooper and Peter Wilmot
Leg 4 Dean Taylor
Matlock Mixed
Leg 1 Jack Cummins
Leg 2 Lottie ChargeFitness and Lucy Taylor
Leg 3 Matt Govan and David Robertson
Leg 4 Megan Hopkinson
All 4 legs started at the foot off Barrow Fell and covered the local Fells and Valley’s.
After a long day’s running the A team came home in 6th place. The Old Boys 165th and the Mixed team finished 194th. There were 243 teams involved which was hosted by Keswick AC and made a fantastic job of organising the event.
A massive thank you to all 18 runners who gave their all and put a great show on as MAC Runners.
Also thanks to Sally Hale and Dennis Holmes who came to support for the day and hopefully Geoff has sobered up by now 😂
