We recognise the hard work and training that you will have put in already. We want to be able to put on the event, and we know that you want to race. However, it will probably come as no surprise that we have decided it would be impractical, unwise and potentially unsafe to proceed with the event.
As things stand, our plans are as follows: We have earmarked Saturday 7 November 2020 as a replacement date for the 10k and half marathon. This is of course still subject to unfolding events, and if disruption continues throughout summer and autumn, we will update you if we have to postpone the 2020 event entirely. If you are unable to make this event, you can withdraw and have a refund, or you can roll forward your entry to 2021, to ensure that you are on the entry list for that event.
We have decided to postpone the Marathon, and this will be excluded from the November event. Sorry to those of you that are disappointed, but with shortened daylight hours and potentially cold weather, we do not feel it is fair on runners or our marshals to go ahead with the full marathon race. Anyone that has entered will be automatically rolled forward to the 2021 event, but we are also happy if you would prefer a refund, or if you would like to transfer your entry to the half marathon (with a refund on the difference in entry fee of course). We will provide a further update to runners via the race entry system, explaining what you need to do if you do want to change or cancel your entry.
Thank you for your understanding. I hope that we all get through the next few months safely and that some normality returns sooner rather than later, so that we can all get back to doing what we love - without keeping 2 metres apart. Matlock Athletic Club
