British Fell Relay Champs 2019, Ladybower

Report from John Thorpe on British F R Champs, 2019 at Fairholmes, Ladybower in the shadow of the overflowing Derwent Dam, Matlock AC had 2 senior men’s teams and a V50 men's team.
Leg 1 was a solo leg which took in 4.95 miles and gained 1300ft elevation, Leg 2 was a paired leg taking in 8.3 miles and 2000ft elevation, Leg 3 was the Navigation paired leg which was 8.5 miles and 1700ft elevation and finally the solo Leg 4 which was 5 miles and 1350 ft elevation.
The A team consisting of Billy Cartwright, Alasdair Campbell/Joe Oldfield, Harry Holmes/Stuart Bond and Dan Haworth came a spicy 7th with Billy leading out and coming back 1st overall.
Team B made up of Pete Watson, Paddy Wright/Derek Chetwin, Rich Bradbury/Mat Nichols and John Thorpe came a respectable 43rd overall, which left the final team being the V50 men's team made up of Simon Croft, Pete Wilmot/Mark Elwis, Andy Hall/Geoff Cooper and Bob Foreman all put in a sterling effort to come back in unscathed and in 137th out of 224 finishing teams with a fair few not completing.
Keswick went on to take the Men’s title whilst Helm Hill ladies wrapped up the ladies.
