Thanks Alaina Bond for the report on the English National XC Champs at Harewood House, Leeds on Saturday -
Conditions were perfect, with clear sunny weather and a light breeze and firm ground underfoot.
Over 8,000 runners were entered across 10 races this year. The winners of the Senior Races were Mahamed Mahamed and Emily Hosker-Thornhill.It was a great opportunity provided by the Club for it's members to compete in a large scale and well organised event amongst some of the strongest runners in England. In the U13 girls there were 418 runners with Freya Lester finishing 105th, Caitlin McCoy 163rd and Sophie Hopkinson 211th.
Alex Currie competed in the U13 boys race finishing 294th out of 408 runners.
Amelia Corke competed in the U15 girls finishing 276th out of 362 runners.
In the Junior men’s race Birtie West finished 163rd out of 201 runners.
For the senior women Alaina Bond finished 466th/1034 and Nicky Dick 555th/1034.
The last race of the day was the senior men’s race with a total of 2006 runners. First in for MAC was Harry Holmes (104st) closely followed by Dan Haworth (119th). Next in were Colin Davenport (588th), John Thorpe (686th) and Paddy Wright (946th).
A mention also for ex-MAC runner Josh Moody who finished in 84th place.
A great effort put in by all MAC runners on the day!
