Rich Bradbury reports on Tigger Tor FR (15.5k/515m)-
“For many of us the Tigger Tor marks the start of the fell racing year. The weather looked fine and sunny from the sanctuary of the clubhouse but it didn't take long waiting in the starting pen outside to realise how cold the wind was. Once started however things soon warmed up and the wind proved not so strong to impede progress. The course has quite a lot of what mountain bikers call 'single track', i.e. narrow trods mainly through heather. Overtaking opportunities are limited so it becomes a tactical decision whether to expend energy bursting past someone whilst looking for alternative trods to use as an overtaking lane.
If that kind of running isn't your thing then the road at the end provides over a mile of unimpeded passing opportunities- just have to remember to save some legs for the muddy field at the finish!
Billy Cartwright battled with race winner Steve Franklin, Totley AC (1.11.50) all the way to finish a very close 2nd (1.11.51!) Keiran Allanson 4th 1.14.13 and Ben Cartwright 8th 1.15.48 ensured the team prize!
Rich Bradbury 1.20.04, Bradley Stone 1.24.28, Pete Wilmot 1.35.41, Mark Pollak 1.40.28. Great running Lads!!
