On Sunday 5thit was the Dovedale Dipper organised by Matlock Rotary Club raising funds for
the British Skin Foundation. Well done to all who took part in very hot 30 degreesheat. There was a 27 mile route and a 15
mile route. Starting at Hartington the
challenging circular route takes in Sparklow,, Longnor, Wetton and Milldale. In the 27 miler for MAC John Thorpe finished
42 minutes quicker than last year in 2nd place. Scott Thompson and son, Sam completed in 5hrs 19 mins.
Scott says it was a beautiful, undulating coursewith some challenging hills. The event was well organised and there was lots of
support around the course. Many of the runners had to mix walking in with the
running due to the heat.
Andy Mellor, Pete Wilmot and Dan Ashcroft tookpart in the 15 mile course. PeteWilmot was first MAC home and just pipped at the post by the race winner. Slightly behind, and very much keeping each
other going were Dan Ashcroft and Andy Mellor, finishing in 2 hours 36
minutes. Dan - in the middle of training
for a marathon - was possibly suffering the effects of having run 60k already
that week. Andy is still looking for a suitable excuse.
