On Saturday 23rd it was the Darren HollowayButtermere Horseshoe FR (35.5k/2,515m) which is part of the British and English
Fell Running Championship series and was organised by Cumblerland Fell Runners,
starting at Loweswater. One of the
toughest Lakeland routes over the Buttermere Fells, top navigation skills
needed to take in Checkpoints at Whiteside, Hopegill Head, Grasmoor, Whiteless Pike,
Dale Head, High Stile and Melbreak tops.
For MAC Billy Cartwright had a
great race to finish in 11th place in 4 hours 12 minutes 49seconds. Just ahead of Billy was Harry
Holmes of Pudsey & Bramley AC (who
also runs for Wirksworth RC) in 9th place in 4 hours 12 minutes 33seconds and Dan Haworth of Keswick AC (who runs 2nd claim for MAC)10th place in 4 hours 12 minutes 37 seconds. Lots of runners retiredfrom the race and there were 273 finishers.
The winner was Carl Bell of Keswick AC in 3 hours 45 minutes 20 seconds
and 1st lady was Jasmin Paris of Carnethy Hill Racing Club in 4hours 29 minutes 28 seconds.
