The gender ratio swung back 3:1 in favour of the MAC men on Sunday morning as Nicky Dick joined up with Simon Brister, Mark Jackson and Jim Thorneycroft at the Staffordshire Moorlands AC Christmas Cracker at Meerbrook. A popular pre-Xmas event that encourages fancy dress, the usual course takes in an 8 mile route over the Roaches but due to adverse conditions it was scaled down on the morning to a challenging 4.5 race around Tittesworth Reservoir on a footpath that resembled a skating rink in many places. A cracking run by Simon who speed skated round for an excellent 30th position and 1st MV65 positioned him at the top of the MAC Xmas tree while Jim did a good enough impression of Bambi on ice to stay upright to finish in 51st place and 1st MV60. Nicky had a strong run to come in next in 70th place followed by Mark in 83rd, of the 206 finishers and he deserved a medal for getting to the event after travelling earlier in the morning to the Longshaw Estate for the hastily abandoned NT 10k. There were 206 runners. The winner was Simon Bailey of Mercia FR and 1st lady was Haley Kutter of Salford Harriers
