Sunday it was the very popular Dovedale Dash, which has been held since 1953. This is a cross country race of nearly 5 miles. This year 1,528 people of all abilities took part, some in fancy dress. The venue is the picturesque area around the village of Thorpe nr. Ashbourne and Dovedale. The course is mainly along field paths and open ground in the valleys of the River Dove and Manifold and one of the excitements is the crossing of the River Dove at the well known Stepping Stones. There is also a separate Junior Race for the U8s and U10s. It was a very close race this year with the winner being Alasdair Campbell of Buxton AC in 28.25 closely followed by MAC’s Dan Haworth. First lady home was MACs young Elsbeth Grant in a fantastic time of 32.13, winning the Female U18 category. MACs Alex Currie won the U10s Junior Race in 10.03.
Loads of MACs took part – Steve and Jude Goodall, Mark Jackson, Matt and Katie Haywood, Andrea Priestley, Mick and Lucy Kuszynski, Rachel and Matilda Maciejewski-Spencer, 75 year old Clive Russell in his 55+ Dash, Molly Gorman, Michaela Dick, Helen Emmerson and Gerry White. Sorry if I have missed anyone.
