I ran Kielder marathon Sunday, which is basically one off road lap of Kielder water, Northumbria, with an overall elevation gain of nearly 500 feet, making it one of England's toughest marathons.
This year the Police Sport UK championship was held within the race, 80 police officers from forces across the UK adding to an overall race entry of over 1000 runners.
Despite a comparatively slow finish time of 3.45 I was the 6th overall lady in the race and 3rd female police officer, and actually overtook 3 ladies in the final 6 miles who clearly hadn’t anticipated the effects of the non stop hills throughout the course. I was 93 overall in the marathon.
