Report from Jim Thorneycroft and Shelley Fairey on NWIP
A bit breezy at Queens Park in Chesterfield for the October round of NDRC's No Walk in the Park 5k series on Saturday but that didn't stop the 4 senior MAC's present from putting in top performances. Men's club captain Colin Davenport led the way with a commanding display to overhaul early leader and home favourite Richard Start and take the race win in 16-43, so he's coming nicely to the boil for next week's Palma marathon. Simon Croft made it 2 MACs in the top 3 with another excellent NWIP run in 18-37 and he's closing in now on the MV50 series win. Simon Brister made a rare foray on to tarmac and swooped to 1st MV65 & an impressive 10th o/all in 20-28, so he's looking in very good shape for the BMAF XC relays at the end of the month. Making up the quartet came Jim Thorneycroft, finishing in 22-57 for 22nd place and half an eye on the Tissington Trail half marathon. He also looks on course for the NWIP series age category win. So a good MAC haul of the race victory and 3 age category wins.
In the children's race, Logan Fairey finished in 4th place with a time of 6.23 followed by Robbie Davenport in 7.13 and Millie Davenport in 7.53.
