Message from Jim Thorneycroft re the MAC December 10k handicap this Thursday, and what an exciting series it's turning out to be with a single point separating the top 3 of Mike Blair, Clive Russell and Jon Birch. And one of those has had a birthday this week so that's imprpved thier handicap!! And with James Fox and Ladies GP winner Emma Turner ready to gatecrash into a podium position there's everything to play for.It will make the timing a lot easier if you can register if running for the first time this year and also leaving a message here if you plan to run on the night so a start list can be drafted upStarts at 18.30 from the Arc

Jim Thorneycroft reports - Nothing like being awarded with a MAC lifetime membership for putting a bit more zest into your running - that's what it looked like as Mick Moorhouse made a welcome return to Thursday evening training and swooped in for the age graded win in the December 10k handicap. Another fast time of 37m sees John Thorpe take the accolade of fastest time of the evening, a run good enough for 2nd place in the handicap too. And MAC junior Ollie Lloyd recorded his 3rd consecutive 41m 10k.The overall series lead has been grabbed back by Clive Russell with John Birch close behind in 2nd and, as predicted, Emma Turner flies the MAC Ladies' standard in 3rd. Watch out though for the trio of Mike Blair, John Thorpe and Peter Wilmot who've sat out their non- counting race and all look threatening to the leaders. It's Sally Owen who'll be wearing the magic MAC cap at the Christmas dinner table in recognition of her continued improvement over this course and her excellent Bolsover 10k PB.
Thanks to all 19 who ran, great efforts all round, and to the timing crew of Daniel Ashcroft, Kathryn Berrisford and Jack Cummins. Results and series standings here -
