Report from Alison Pye on BDL, Shipley Park (full results to follow) -
"Who needs road races and sunshine? .... Not the 24 MAC's (of which 10 were ladies) who braved the rain at Shipley Park Sunday.
A fantastic turnout after Mike Blair rallied the mens team to ensure we had a full complement of runners.
Mike Blair lead from the front bagging an early season top 10 finish in 7th, just outside the top 10 was Nick Holland in 11th (running in trainers, so the only way is up), Ricky Wood (it wasn't that cold or wet really) 28th, Matt Haywood 44th, Oliver Lloyd 55th, Geoff Cooper 58th, and Andy Mellor 62nd completed the mens team. They were closely followed by John Birch 79th, Andrew Hodkin 97th, Jason Turner 101st, John Hurley 108th, Mick Moorhouse 114th, Mike Lloyd 132nd, and Steve Goodall 138th.The ladies started the season with a bang, I'm not quite sure what else to say. Elsbeth Grant lead the way, showing the seniors how its done, finishing first lady in 25th overall, it was great to see Jade Stone back in action in the BDL finishing 2nd lady in 43rd overall, 4th lady home was Lizzie Webster in 56th overall, a fantastic showing from the MAC junior members today! A strong run from Hayley Gill 63rd in a return to BDL action, backed up by Emma Turner 115th, Alison Pye 123rd, Helen Emmerson 134th, Kate Oconnorparker had a great debut in 161st, Jan Forrester 183rd, and Sally Owen 220th.A great race organised by Ripley RC, in true cross country conditions.Same again in 4 weeks time when we travel the Chaddesden for round 2 on 11/11/18. Only a small stream crossing to contend with on that occassion. See you all there ......"
